Elderly Rehabilitation:
Move Better, Live Independently

Ageing does not mean accepting pain, stiffness, or dependence as inevitable. Our experienced geriatric rehabilitation team has helped hundreds of elderly patients regain mobility, confidence, and independence — gently, safely, and at a pace that respects each person's body and history.

Why Geriatric Rehab Matters

The Real Impact of Declining Mobility

1 in 3
adults over 65 fall at least once each year
50%
reduction in fall risk with structured balance training
80%
of age-related mobility loss is preventable or reversible with physiotherapy

Many families accept a parent's increasing stiffness, pain, or balance problems as "just getting old." Often, these are treatable conditions — not inevitable decline. With the right rehabilitation program, most elderly patients see meaningful improvement in strength, balance, and confidence within 6–8 weeks.

Signs that rehabilitation can help: Reluctance to walk without holding walls or furniture, getting up from chairs slowly or with difficulty, fear of falling, increasing stiffness on waking, restricted activity due to joint pain, and poor balance on uneven ground.
Conditions We Treat

Common Geriatric Conditions We Address

ðŸĶī

Osteoarthritis

Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling in knees, hips, and hands — managed with exercise therapy, manual treatment, and joint protection strategies.

⚖ïļ

Balance & Fall Prevention

Structured balance training and strength work to significantly reduce fall risk — one of the most important interventions in elderly care.

🔙

Back & Spinal Pain

Degeneration, compression, and postural changes cause significant back pain in older adults. Physiotherapy provides safe, effective relief.

🧠

Post-Stroke Rehabilitation

Regaining movement, strength, and coordination after a stroke through guided, progressive physiotherapy tailored to the affected areas.

ðŸĶŋ

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation

Recovery after knee replacement, hip replacement, or other joint surgery — structured physiotherapy to restore function and independence safely.

💊

Osteoporosis Management

Weight-bearing and resistance exercises to preserve bone density, improve posture, and reduce fracture risk in osteoporotic patients.

ðŸšķ

Gait & Walking Problems

Slow, shuffling, or unsteady walking gait — assessed and retrained through specific exercises to improve walking safety and speed.

💊

General Deconditioning

Loss of strength, stamina, and function after illness, hospitalization, or prolonged inactivity — systematically reversed with graded exercise.

Our Approach

Rehabilitation Designed for Older Bodies

Geriatric rehabilitation requires a different approach from standard physiotherapy — slower progressions, more emphasis on functional goals (getting up from the floor, climbing stairs, walking to the market), and care for multiple concurrent conditions. Our team is experienced in all of these.

Comprehensive Assessment

We assess strength, balance, gait, joint range, and functional ability — painting a full picture before recommending any program.

Physiotherapy & Manual Therapy

Joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, and exercise therapy adapted for age-related tissue changes and multiple health conditions.

Balance & Fall Prevention Training

Progressive exercises specifically targeting the balance system — highly effective at reducing falls and restoring confidence in movement.

Strengthening Programs

Gentle resistance training to counter age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia), improving the ability to perform daily activities independently.

Acupuncture & Pain Relief

Acupuncture for arthritis pain, neuropathy, and chronic musculoskeletal pain — effective and drug-free, avoiding medication interactions.

Family & Caregiver Guidance

We involve family members and caregivers in the program — teaching safe assistance techniques, home exercise routines, and fall prevention adjustments at home.

Common Questions

What Families Ask Us

There is no upper age limit for physiotherapy benefit. Research consistently shows that elderly patients — including those in their 80s and 90s — respond to targeted rehabilitation with improved strength, balance, and function. The body's ability to adapt does not disappear with age.

Home visits are available in Hyderabad for patients who have difficulty travelling to the clinic. Please mention this when you contact us and we'll confirm availability and logistics for your area.

Not at all — it's the norm in geriatric care. Our team is experienced in patients with diabetes, hypertension, cardiac conditions, and multiple musculoskeletal problems simultaneously. We design programs carefully with all conditions in mind and coordinate with your parent's doctors when needed.

Patience and respect are the foundation of our geriatric approach. Sessions are unhurried, explanations are clear, and goals are set around what matters to the patient — not a textbook checklist. Family members are welcome to attend sessions.

Most patients see meaningful improvement within 8–12 weeks. We assess at each session and give you honest, realistic timelines. A maintenance program of once or twice a month keeps gains long-term — particularly for fall prevention.
